ACP fibre direction is uneven

Hello everybody,

I am currently working on my thesis which is the develpoment of an cfrp-aluminum rim. I have previously worked with ANSYS ACP but I am struggling with creating the solid model for the rim. The mesh is generated with mapped face meshing and element size and looks even.

I imported the model in ACP and created a fabric, stackup, rosettes on each side of the rim and a oriented selection set. I can successfully update the solid model but I get the warning: "Reference direction computation: Alternate method used in Oriented Selection Set OrientedSelectionSet.1". I do not exactly know what I have to to in order to change that. Also the fibre direction of the modeling ply seems to be uneven as the direction of some fibres differ. You can see on of the problematic areas in the picture:

uneven fibre direction

Where do these problems come from? And what do I have to do to solve them?

I would be so glad if someone could help! Thanks in advance.

Hello Amira,

One question, are you importing a surface or a 3D volume?

Hello mcapella,

Thanks for your reply. I'm importing a surface model from Autodesk Inventor 2020. I also gave it a fake thickness of 1 mm in Mechanical so I could generate a mesh to use in ACP.

Hello Amira,

Your Rosette/OSS is having problems. Try resetting or changing it.

 Hello mcapella,

thanks for your help. Unfortunately I can't open the link you posted. Is there another way that I can access this website?
