Hello everyone.

I am working cfd analyse of internal combustion engine. But i must select composition for boundary and initial conditions. But when i select composition---> create new--------> add species-----> Select species but there is nothing. I will only use(select) air for cold flow simulation on inlet. But there is no species in the options. Can anyone help me. Thanks a lot.

I would check in models, you might need to turn something on. I'd also have a look in the Help: that's usually enough to find the functions.

Hi,

Thanks you so much. I want see now only cold flow analyse. And i will select only air for composition for cold flow . But you see that there is no choice for composition. And program is giving error because composition didnt choiced and empty and i can not advance. I am using restricted/limited/university release Ansys 19.1 you know. Could it be the cause of the problem?

Best regards

Hello,

If you have not already looked at these videos, perhaps you might find these interesting. I am sharing the links here.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

Thank you.

Dear Karthik

Thank you. In this video, in part 3, he selected composition, combustion products. In my workbench, i will select air for cold flow, but there is no choice in the composition option. I will select only air, not any special composition, but i dont know where the choose.

Hello,

As Rob pointed out earlier, it seems to me like you might not have turned on some option during your simulation set-up. You could follow the video and try to recreate every step. Perhaps, this exercise might help you figure out what you are missing. Good luck!

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Karthik

Hi,

Forte uses a chemistry set in Chemkin format to define the properties of the gaseous species to be used in the simulation. To import species (and also reactions, if needed), you need to import a chemistry set first. The "Import Chemistry" button can be found in "Models" -> "Chemistry". It is the first icon, which looks like a molecule. Once you click it, you will be prompted to select a .cks (chemistry set) file. In the "data" folder listed there, you'll find several .cks files packaged within Forte. If you just need air, you can choose the one called "Air_NoReactions_2sp.cks". Once the chemistry set is imported, species included in the chemistry mechanism (O2 and N2 in this example) will become available on the initial condition/boundary condition panels.

Best Regards,
