Hi everybody:

Can I introduce "alongamiento (%)" in properties of materials?

I believe you mean the stretch from the experimental data.

You would have to convert all the information to stress-strain data. There are many discussions on the forum about this, here is one you might find helpful.

Alongamiento translated to English is Elongation, which is a material property.

You know how to determine failure by comparing the material property Ultimate Tensile Strength with the calculated Stress.

You can determine failure for a nonlinear plasticity model by comparing the material property Elongation with the calculated Total Strain.

Here is a more detailed description.

Elongation is not saved in Engineering Data the way Yield Strength or Ultimate Tensile Strength are.  Those strength values are used in the Stress Tool to make Safety Factor plots.  There is no equivalent plot using Total Strain.  You would just write about it in a report.

Peter
