I have to simulate a tensile test of a steel-sample and also be able to show the fracture in ANSYS static structural. The sample is under load until break.
The material of the cuboid sample is Steel (non-linear), because I have to show the plastic area as well.
Unfortunately, I’m not getting the specimen to break, even though if I increase the force. I always get an error message like "internal limit has been exceeded and strong distortion".
However, I need to know where the steel sample breaks, in which area and when it breaks (stress-strain curve).
I can get a fracture in explicit dynamics, but this is irrelevant, since the real tensile test has a low and constant strain rate.
The one side of the sample is firmly fixed and the other side is under tensile load.
Is it even possible to describe the fracture of a tensile test using ANSYS static structural?
After long time of searching for a solution, I have come across “crack” and “APDL-code”, but I don’t know if that solves my problem. Since I’m not familiar with both of them.
I would be very grateful someone here from ANSYS-Student-Community could help me.
