Best mesh for thin circular plate/membrane

Hello,

 

i want to study modal analysis of thin plate subjected to tension. I would like to know, if SHELL 181 elements are right choice and if my mesh is good enough. i used curvature automatic meshing. it used mostly quad, but also some triangular elements




 




If there is better choice of mesh, could You please tell me how to do it? Maybe something like this:

Hello Kravky, 

From ANSYS Help, shell181 documentaion:

"SHELL181 is suitable for analyzing thin to moderately-thick shell structures. It is a four-node element with six degrees of freedom at each node: translations in the x, y, and z directions, and rotations about the x, y, and z-axes. (If the membrane option is used, the element has translational degrees of freedom only). The degenerate triangular option should only be used as filler elements in mesh generation."

As it says, triangular option should only be used as filler elements in mesh generation.

In my opinion, your mesh looks fine.
