Hi all,

I have completed an FSI problem successfully. This was not the first time I do such an analysis. However, this time was different.

The geometry is very simple - it is just a flexible tube with water inside! After completing the analysis, the CFD post won't display (plot) the results even though there is no error showing in the Project Schematic platform. Please see the attached pictures.

I refreshed everything, but nothing works.

Does anyone know what is happening? Thank you.

Hello,

Does this happen for all design points? Were you able to get your results to display correctly when you set-up your first design point?

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Karthik

Hello,

It happened with this case only. It does not show anything no matter what I try. I tried to make a point, a plane, and a volume - nothing.

I changed the plans locations, and nothing shows up on the display. As you can see, there is no error at all.

Hello,

Thank you for your update. Another question - Are you able to post-process individual simulations results from your mechanical and fluid simulations (A6 and B5)? I'd start looking at the simulation results individually and then see if you can open your results individually. If you are unable to do this, then there is some issue with your coupling set-up. I am just attaching a system-coupling video for your use here. Even though it demonstrates coupling between thermal and CFX packages, the principle should be the same.

Also, instead of linking cells A6 and B6, have you tried creating a new CFD post session (D) and linking the two solutions A6 and B5 to this new CFD post session?

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Karthik

Hi Karthik,

Thank you for your detailed explanation. I think there is a problem with the CFD-post's coupling with ANSYS, because when I open it in a stand-alone mode and I import the data to it, no problem shows up.

I have been able to solve the problem (partially at least). What I do is: 1- save the workspace (all of it). 2- Open the file again. 3- clear the "Results" section in the "Fluent" block. 4- Update the results again. 5-  Double-click on the "Results" to open the CFD-post.

This way I am able to see the results and the plots normally. However, if I close the workspace and open it again later, I must clear the results and start over. It is fine with me, except I lose any saved profiles or data that processed inside CFD-post.

Thank you

Hello,

I am not completely sure as to why you are seeing this issue. However, I have a few suggestions.

Instead of using 'Reset' (which clears all the results and resets CFD post to a new session), how about just 'Clear Generated Data' and 'Refresh'? These options should allow you to keep your original saved profiles and you might not have to create them from the beginning.

Another way would be to explicitly write out your CFD post results after your post-processing. And you could load these CFD post files as a stand-alone run. This, however, would be a cumbersome process if you are running multiple parameters.

Could you also try to create a 'Duplicate' copy of the Fluent workflow and test your 'Results' section again? I am not sure if this might helps here. I am just thinking aloud here.

Please let us know if this helps.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Karthik
