Contact analysis for bolt thread modelling technique

It is stated in ANSYS help document that symmetric contact should NOT be used for bolt thread modelling (screenshot of the statement is attached). From my understanding, defining symmetric contacts does not allow contact elements to penetrate through the target elements nor does allow target elements to penetrate through contact elements.

If this is so, what could be the possible reason to suggest NOT to use symmetric contacts for bolt thread modelling. Please do enlighten me.
