I have installed Ansys 19.2 STUDENT version in my laptop. When I try to open the application 'Workbench', I get an error as specified above. I have tried reinstalling almost a dozen times and tried deleting the ansys folder in %appdata% as well. I have tried several solutions scattered around the forum but none seems to work. Please help me solve this issue. I am in urgent need of using this software to learn ANSYS via Cornell University course.

This is a screenshot of my issue

Added a new discussion thread as directed by tsiriaks

Thanks for creating a new thread.

Try this

1. Create a new user account with pure English letter and make sure it doesn't contain space

2. Turn off all security software (including Firewall and anti-virus software) on the machine. We recently have seen an issue with Windows Defender Core Isolation messing with SSL , if that's enabled on your machine, try disable it, ref : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/104025-turn-off-core-isolation-memory-integrity-windows-10-a.html

Thanks,

Win

Sir, as you said I created a new local user account without any spaces and gave admin rights to it as well. But when I opened the application, I face the same issue again as stated above sir.

Also there is no Core isolation option in my laptop under device security as my system doesn't have the core isolation security feature.

When I searched for Core isolation option

I get this message

That's ok. In that case, can you turn off Virus&Threat Protection and Firewall ?

AravindKarthik posted this 14 May 2019

Turned off firewall already sir. Virus and Threat protection is disabled but that is the only antivirus protection I have sir.

Open this file

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\.ansys\demo.<hostname>.log

then post the screenshot of the bottom of the file (1 full page of it)

Can you post the same info while logging in to the Windows with your newly created user account ?

Also, what's the output of the following commands (from CMD Prompt)

ping localhost

ping %computername% -4

Thanks,

Win

I can't find the AppData folder in the newly created account AravindTest. Maybe should I reinstall the application in the newly created account as well ? Because the installation was carried out in my old account with usage access to all users in the system, the Appdata is not visible sir ?

Also typing the above specified codes in my old account in the cmd prompt,

tsiriaks posted this 16 May 2019

Your appdata folder, by default, is hidden.

You can just type this in the address bar on the top of your File Explorer

%temp%

It will lead you to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp

Hi AravindKarthick,

Could you please look in the following temp directory:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\.ansys

There should be a few licdebug files.

Could you take a screenshot of that directory and paste it here.

Also please paste in the content of any ANS_WB file or WORKBENCH file in that directory.

Thank you,

Jake

Hi AravindKarthik,

Development is saying that something is blocking the local communication.

Please make sure that ansysli_client.exe is excluded from the Antivirus and the Firewall on your machine.

Thank you,

Jake

AravindKarthik posted this 21 May 2019

Can you please specify the location of the file ansysli_client.exe so as to exempt it from Windows Defender

jcallery posted this 21 May 2019

It should be here:

C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\Shared Files\Licensing\winx64\ansysli_client.exe

I would suggest also excluding ansysls_client.exe (same location) as well.

Thank you,

Jake

AravindKarthik posted this 21 May 2019

Done sir

AravindKarthik posted this 21 May 2019

Just checked the Workbench but the issue still persists sir

jcallery posted this 21 May 2019

Please try disabling the local firewall as well as windows defender.

Also if you have any other Antivirus running please disable that.

Thank you,

Jake

AravindKarthik posted this 21 May 2019

Tried sir. Still the issue persists

jcallery posted this 21 May 2019

Hi AravindKarthick,

Unfortunately I am out of ideas.  There is a communications issue between the ansysli_client and the application, but I do not know what on your machine is causing it.

Thank you,

Jake

AravindKarthik posted this 21 May 2019
