Is Prony Shear Relaxation available for Workbench 17.1 version? How can I check that?

I got this error on Solver Output:

Jon,

I assume you are on a Research license and not the free Student license.

Check the license type by going to All Programs > ANSYS 17.1 > ANSYS Client Licensing > User License Preferences

When that program opens a list of licenses will display.

Once you know the name of the license, then you have to look up the limitations. Maybe someone here can say.

Regards,

Peter

Jon,

You are currently checking out the Associate license (if no one else is using a license), which may have limitations, I don't know, but the Teaching license does have Node and Element limits, so it may also have material limits.

The ANSYS Academic Research Mechanical and CFD has all material models, so pick that item and click the Move Up button to put that at the top of the list. Then when you start Mechanical, that is the license you will check out (unless it is already checked out by someone else).

When you open Mechanical, it will show you in the title bar of the window which license it checked out.  You can also use the All Programs > ANSYS 17.1 > ANSYS Client Licensing > Client ANSYSLIC_ADMIN Utility program. Pick View Status then Display the License Status to show who is using a license if you don't get the Research license.

Peter: Associate licenses are unlimited, same as Research. They have broader academic terms of use than Research (and Teaching).

Jonsys:  Looks like your commercial AIM-Pro license might have been checked out first (when solving). I'm, glad the License Prefs re-order has fixed your issue.

Jon,

I have an old NLS license that does not support PRONY, and a newer license that does.

What license are you using?

Peter

Peter,

where can I check if my license supports that or no?

Peter,

Even previously, while using Mechanical, the title bar was [ANSYS Academic Research Mechanical and CFD]. However, moving ANSYS Academic Research Mechanical and CFD on top resolved the issue.

Thank you
