Georgiro posted this 19 May 2019

I put the license file there, but it still is unable to read it, it is something absolutely strange!!! I am sure you have an experience with this issue. Thanks

And also certain notes!

Georgiro posted this 19 May 2019

But impossible to install SpaceClaim 19.2.

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

Can you please provide a screenshot of the license file you are trying to install?

Thank you,
Matt

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

Ok, I will provide you this material.

Thanks for your ideas, I am a bit lost what the problem can be.

Yesterday, I have downloaded the install files from Ansys and installed, student form, but now I cannot find the license file at all! I do not know what can be the problem, because I have deleted in the administration user the whole Ansys directory and now I am not able to find the license file of the installation file at all. So I am a bit confused. If you have any idea, let me know, otherwise I will have to download the license again. Thanks Jiri

Hi Georgiro,

Are you installing the "Free" Student applications, or the Academic applications from the Ansys Customer Portal?

Thank you,

Jake

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

If you have installed the STUDENT version from the ANSYS site (https://www.ansys.com/academic/free-student-products) then you do NOT need to install a license file or the license manager. The license file is built in with the Student product and no action for licensing is needed.

Installation steps for the ANSYS Student products from Release 18.0 onward:

Extract (unzip) the downloaded installation files.

Right-click on setup and select Run as Administrator.

Read and accept to continue.

Click the right arrow button to accept the default values throughout the installation.

Click the exit button to close the installer.

The ANSYS Student software is now installed. Congratulations!

I suggest you Uninstall and delete your directory and then reinstall as above.

Thank you,

Matt

So you are saying that I do not need the licene at all? Maybe in this case it should work, so I will install it again, but will also download it again, in few minutes it will be downloaded.

Thanks and let me know if I understand it well.

Jiri

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

No, it will take over 50 min. to start  to install it.

Thanks

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

So I have installed it and it was called from Ansys as: ANSYSACADEMICSTUDENT_2019R1_WINX64. Thanks

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

Correct, the STUDENT does not require an additional license, it is packaged with all necessary licensing and no additional license configuration is necessary.

Thank you,
Matt

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

In fact as you are saying, I could install the one I already have...

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

Yes, that's correct. I would suggest uninstalling, deleting the installation directory, and then reinstalling.

Thank you,

Matt

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

Ok, but it also tell me that I should install it as an administrator? It seems very strage, but I will have to do it, otherwise it will not be possible...

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

Ok, now I do not have in Program Files nothing related to Ansys...but need to get to Administrator

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

Correct, you right-click and select 'Run as administrator'. This ensures that all necessary pieces get installed and aren't blocked due to protected directories such as C:\Program Files\ and installation of prerequisites.

Thanks

Matt

By mouse - right click? Hmmm, I do not get it, unfortunately...

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

I thought I have to be an administrator?

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

I just do not see any 'Run as administrator'...

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

Yes, by mouse. You click your right mouse button and when you see the options appear you need to select 'Run as administrator'.

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

And I clicked the mouse on the desktop. But it looks a bit different...

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

So it should be on the setup.exe? I guess

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

And it does not show me what you are saying at all, so what...

mmadore posted this 20 May 2019

You right-click on the setup.exe file. You can't just right click anywhere. What version of Windows are you running?

Win10:

Win7:

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

Ok, thanks, fine, I started to be a bit more instelligent...So I am installing it as Administrator...

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

Yes, I can now see the difference, because I want to construct, so I need to find Ansys SpaceClaim 19.2 not just Ansys 19.2 only, so a bit confusing for me and the one I have installed is working, but it is not SpaceClaim 19.2. So the question is how to install it? Thanks or where to find it?

Georgiro posted this 20 May 2019

I just cannot find it online on their server at all!
