Hi,

I would like to initialize my fluid domain with only one liquid(Water) before starting the simulation. I have a fluid domain and it doesn't have boundary condition like inlet, outlet conditions. It is completely surrounded by walls inside the fluid domain i have a roller.so i would like to simulate how the moving roller influences the fluid(water)   inside the domain.

would anyone help me how can i do it in Ansys Fluent

should i have to patch my entire fluid domain with water ? how can i do that ?

Hello,

How many cell zones do you have in your model? Are they two - water and roller (solid)? Have you assigned the respective material properties to these cell zones? If you have, Fluent will automatically know that you have water in your computational domain.

Or did I misunderstand your question and you are solving a multiphase problem with two fluids - air and water? If this is the case, you should be able to patch a certain region with the volume fraction corresponding to that of water.

Hope this helps.

Karthik

Hello,

Thank you for your replay. I have only one cell zone including roller (zero thickness wall - moving wall boundary condition). I don't have any solid zones. I extracted solid from the fluid domain, so i only have the surfaces of roller walls inside my fluid domain. For that roller surfaces i have assigned moving wall boundary condition. (for example its like  imprints of solid roller inside the fluid domain).

I assigned the materials properties for the fluid but i am not sure whether the fluid domain is completely filled with water during the initialization ?

I am not solving the multi phase. I am solving single phase only water inside the fluid domain.

would you please help me how can fill my fluid domain with water before starting the simulation ?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

shiva

Hello,

If it is a single phase problem and you have one single cell zone, then Fluent would automatically initialize your computational domain with properties of water. Please simply initialize and plot contours of density to see what Fluent shows (if you are interested in double-checking).

Thanks.
