How to view deformation results of an object compared to its original shape?

Hello,

I am working on a project that consists of a helmet impacting a steel plate so I can investigate the stress and deformation results for different helmet geometries. I am solving it by using a transient dynamic analysis. I am having an issue finding the proper way to display the deformation results because when I solve with total deformation, it is giving me the deformation of the object in relation to where it started. This does not provide me with the proper results because the helmet is hitting the plate at a 45 degree angle causing it to deflect and rotate. I have attached two images showing the helmet striking the plate and the results I receive with total deformation. Any guidance would be extremely appreciated!

Thank you!

Plot Total Strain. That records the local material deformation, regardless of rigid body motion.

Thank you for the insight!
