Hello,

I want to control the ticks in the following legend.

I set up the Value Ticks as below in the legend setting window, yet it doesn't affect the final look of the legend. Where is my mistake? I remembered I did the same thing in a previous plot, and it works.

Thank you.

Alex

Hi Alex,

Apologies that we missed your post here.

What is it you are looking to do? Are you looking for a plot that looks similar to the one you posted above?

Thanks.

Hey Karthik,

Thank you. The plot (legend) I posted above has too many numbers (ticks). I want to make it less. Maybe only 5. I tried to do that in legend settings by setting Value Ticks (as seen in the second picturein the post above), but it didn't help.

Thank you.

Hello,

please change the levels in the contour plot. Please see the image. Change the number from 11 to 4 and you will have 5 levels.

Thanks.

Hey Karthik,

Thank you for your reply. That would help reduce the legend levels to 5, but that's not what I want.

I want to have more Contour number (~20) otherwise a lot of details are lost in the plot. I only want to reduce the legend levels without reducing the contour number too much. Is it possible to do that?

Thank you for your reply Keyur. Sorry I did find how that solves the problem.

I was doing checking the legend option as seen in the screenshot below. Changing the value ticks wouldn't change anything on the plot.

I know I can reduce the legend levels to 5 by setting the number of contours to 5. Yet that'll make the plot very coarse and a lot of details are lost. I want to reduce the legend levels without reducing the contour number too much. I looked at the help manual and many online tutorials yet I didn't find a solution.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Then I think it needs to be done through scripting.

Hello,

The value ticks option will not change for a Legend which is attached to a Contour.

But if you create a new Legend and attach it to a surface [while plotting variables on that surface], you can change the ticks easily and it will work.

Just make sure that the legend is not related to a Contour. You can create a Plane and display the variables on that plane and attach the Legend to it.

I hope this helps.

Surya

Hello Surya,

Hello Surya,

Thank you so much!!! This works!

BTW, I just want to make sure I understand it correctly. When you say "plotting variables on that surface" or "display the variables on that plane", you are talking about the option of "volume rendering" on a Plane, is that correct? That how I understand your message and it did work.

Thank you.

Regards,

Alex

Hello Alex,

You're welcome. Yes you are right. Displaying color based on Variables for that plane.
