Problems with Solver using Steady State Thermal

Hi

 

I am trying to complete the Ansys EDX course offered by Cornell University and the solver solution does not seem to generate the mathematical model. I have done everything as per the boundary conditions and mesh requiements but cannot get the solver to generate the mathematical solution

 

Please send me your ideas, since I have no idea where is my error?

 

Is it a processor or settings problem?

 

I have a HP Spectrex360 4K with 16GB RAM quad core

Can you provide a screenshot of the mesh and the sizing properties? I suspect the mesh to be too fine.

Hi Niresh,

I am familiar with this edX model because I am a TA on that course.
I expect you are trying to solve the model with just 3 linear elements, right?
Looking at your attached jpg file, the BCs seems to be correct.

A simple way to determine if the problem is with your model or your computer is to attach an Archive of your model.
To make an archive, save your project, then click File, Archive and a .wbpz file will be created.
Change the file extension from .wbpz to .txt then attach that file when you Add Post below.
I will download the attachment, change the extension back to .wbpz and Restore Archive.
If the model solves on my computer, then the problem is with your computer.
Do you have any non-English or special characters in your path or your userid?

I see only jpeg images can be uploaded and nothing else

 

The tutorials were designed for earlier versions of Ansys and not 18.2

Niresh,

You can upload txt files also. The attached txt file is actually an ANSYS 17.2 archive.

Save this file, then change the extension from txt to wbpz then in ANSYS, File, Restore Archive.

See if this file solves on your computer. It solves on mine.

I finally managed to upload the txt file as requested (done on version 18.2)

 

The file is in the post I made two days ago

I could not find the Ättach" button in the current reply and evantually saw that it was available in the reply that you sent to me

 

Please let me know what is my mistake

Hello Niresh,

I didn't notice the attach button for weeks since it only appears after you add the post. Look at your last reply, there should be an attach button next to it.  Try attaching the archive file with the extension changed to .txt to that post and I will take a look at it.

I don't see a file attached to any of your posts except for the first post and that is a .jpg file.

Did you download my attachment and follow those directions. You can restore an ANSYS 17.2 archive using ANSYS 18.2. If your computer can solve that model, then there is nothing wrong with your computer.

Hello Niresh,

The file you uploaded is not a wbpz archive file. If you use Notepad to open that file, it looks like this:

How did you create that file? The file I uploaded looks like this in Notepad.  It is a binary file.

So I still cannot see your model.  To save an archive in Workbench: File, Archive...
Please try again.

Did my V17.2 tutorial solve on your computer?

You can compare each part of my model with your model to find a difference.
