Reading Points out of solver data

hello,

i did a harmoic analysis. i excited an surface with displacement. as a result i measured 2 surfaces. afterwards i calculated the direct relation between the two surfaces. 

my fear is that the two surfaces will be narrowed together by an angle, whereby the distances around this angle are different and thus the displacement is different. this would distort the result, since i only need the displacement to each other.

Is it possible to extract two new points from the solution file, one at the top and one at the bottom of the observed surfaces to calculate the error?

Are you looking frequency response for the two surfaces? You may probe the frequency response (displacement) for a vertex/ node at two surfaces.

Thank you for the answer. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do the simulation again, but I think there's no way around it. This time I will do the simulation with the observation of the edges/points.

If anyone has another idea, I'm open to it. After all, the simulation runs for a whole day.

Requesting new results should not require computing the solution again. Just evaluating the result from the existing solution.

Hello,

  Indeed Peter is right, you should be able to insert a probe and Evaluate all Results as discussed in this article. This is also a strength of ANSYS Mechanical.

  I haven't used this before but I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to do this with something like a PSD probe.

You must have the ANSYS 19.1 Help page open before you click on the last link in Sandeep's note, otherwise the link sends you to the Customer Portal sign-in page, which most students do not have access to.
