Residence Time Plots

How do you make a plot of residence time, (NOT a contour plot) an XY plot? I need to do a line plot of residence time for particles in a cylinder. Its going to be a horizontal line going through the middle of the cylinder or residence time. 

we tried to change the x function but the program isn't allowing us to do so.

we also tried this option but it wants to make a plot for each particle, which we don't want.

Are you looking for residence time vs. path length for a steady or transient particle tracking? In either case, you should be able to write the tracking file. This file will contain all the necessary information such as coordinates and velocities. You should be able to use this information and estimate the path length. 

If you have two points in the particle track file (x1, y1, z1) and (x0, y0, z0), path length can be calculated as:

sqrt { (x1-x0)^2 + (y1-y0)^2 + (z1-z0)^2 }

In a similar manner, you can estimate this for every point plot the required XY plot. This, unfortunately, has to be done outside of Fluent.
