simple motion, is UDF required?

I have a moving solid in a rotating reference frame. The rotating reference (absolute) frame moves the fluid.  And with dynamic mesh my solid's mesh moves but it does not behave as a solid. It's motion actually does not effect the solution.

The motion of the solid is simple enough to be defined in the Cell Zone, Mesh Motion menu.  Somehow this does not translate to the boundary conditions.

I am at a loss at how to use the dynamic mesh menu and how it needs to be set.  If my motion is very simple can I get away with not having a UDF?

though i am not clear about your set up, please go through following videos which describe about modeling rotating components in fluent.
