I'm simulating heat transfer in a motor heat sink and have quartered my geometry to reduce the mesh size.

I will not be considering buoyancy forces.

Should I use periodic or symmetric BCs on the quarter faces?

Periodic B.C are more general and even more required if there is any considerable tangential momentum /swirl.

To add, you cannot have solid zones span/touch the periodic boundary so you may need to re-position the slices to avoid this.
