Time-averaged quantities in cfd-post ANSYS Workbench

I am post-processing a TRANSIENTmultiphase simulation (2d axi-symmetric, vertical pipe) in ANSYS Woekbench via cfd-post. I could plot the variation of the axial gas velocity versus the radial direction easily in an x-y chart. However, I am not able to plot the time-averaged velocity distribution. I saved data at each time step (1000 time step). 

I'll be so thankful if someone can tell me how do I plot the time averaged velocity and shear stress profiles for a transient simulation?

Have you created mean values in Fluent? If not u will require a scrpit to do hat in CFD post or create transient plot at a point or via Expression an export to csv and make the average outside.

Before running my simulations, I did not know that I have to choose Data Sampling. Now, I am required to plot the average values by my supervisor and I can't re-run the simulations again since they took so much time.

 

I also have no experience in scripts. I wonder if there are some available scripts to do that because I really need it.

There aren't any available scripts to do this, and the best method is down to what you actually want. Do you want a time averaged value at a point, or do you want to plot contours? The other question is how much does the solution change: ie can you manually get data for 10 steps through the simulation or do you need more than that?

So what do you want to see: contour plot of average quantities or just you want to plot something? For contour plot the effort is huge. For just plotting a quantity the effort is small as described by my first reply and by rwhoolhou's reply.

I need to plot the time-averaged axial gas and liquid velocities and the gas shear stress versus the radial direction (y), not at one point. The simulation is for 10 seconds, time is step is 0.002 and I save data every 5 time steps. The velocity at each point is continuously fluctuating because of the transient nature of the multiphase problem.

So at least I need time-averaged values from 5-10 or 2-10 seconds along one radial line, (no need for contour plots for the whole domain, I only need an x-y plot). Unfortunately, I have come to know that these plots are required by my supervisor only after I presented the transient results.

you will require a script to automate reading 500 and more transients storing and making the average. Better to restart with data sampling activated
