Transient Submodeling Issues - APDL

Hi All,

I'm currently working on a transient thermal model that incorporates submodeling (using BFINT and CBDOF) to coarsen sections and transfer the relevant data, before continuing heat application. I'm having a lot of trouble getting proper data transfer between the two models. While temperature and displacement are transferred successfully, the stress and strain solutions are way off. It's my understanding that submodeling is able to perform effectively in transient situations, however this has not been my experience whatsoever. I'm hoping someone here can provide a clearer explanation of where I'm going wrong.

My guess at the moment is the fact that my thermally dependent material properties are causing trouble, as the temperature during loading changes drastically as the transient load moves. I also do a complete material switch when the temperature gets high enough. Could these be causing my issues? How should I proceed in order to rectify this, or any other issues you see. I've attached my full code if that's helpful.

Benjamin:

There is not enough detailed info in your request and we (ANSYS employees) are not allowed to download models or files from the portal.  My suggestion would be for you to do a simple model to get the procedure figured out then go on to the real model.

Okay understood. I guess a simpler version of my question is, does submodeling (detailed in Advanced Ansys Techniques Chapter 4 and linked below) still work when using temperature dependent material properties or changing material cards (element type remains the same). I'm also working on simplifying the model and running step by step checks

Please use ANSYS Online Help. It is more accurate and up to date.
