what is total velocity in explicit dynamics

Can someone tell me what is total velocity in explicit dynamics?What is its significance?Also i simulated a impact model of a rod hitting an object,i got the results but i cant see the rod actually hitting as i see on youtube videos for better enhanced presentation?Pls explain

The large Result Number of Points is useful if you don't know exactly how fast the part might respond. With a large number, the deformation can be seen. Without, it is possible to wait hours for the before impact frame, and the after impact frame, but nothing in between. Then you have to wait hours to recompute the solution with more frames to see the impact.

Total velocity is the result of all three components of velocity combined using vectorial addition. It shows how fast something is moving.

You did not see the rod hitting the object because you did not specify a small enough End Time and a large enough Result Number of Points.
