Hi, I'm trying to simulate a structure under air flow in a tunnel by using Ansys Fluent. i have set up a structure with a enclosure box to be the fluid domain. However, i don't understand which turbulence model i should run  in Fluent. I want the result of the velocity/force hitting the structure in different face. I understand the wind force is going to increase along the Height of the building, but how should i model it.

Hi,

I would go with K-Omega SST or RSM model(more complicated) For both models you need a refined mesh at the wall specifically at the structure. If your Y+ is less than 1 than you will definitely resolve your drag force to an acceptable degree.

Is there any specific documentation on those turbulence models? i read some documentation online but i dont fully understand and how each model works. why is those two model suitable for this kind of analysis, can you explain a little bit ?

Yea check the documentation for more details. I agree with Raef but bear mind that RSM models are harder to converge do not warranty better results but are based on much more rigourous formalism.

Thanks a lot for the information!! Actually i m currently studying your video online on youtube and trying to recreate your modeling for " Wind load in High Rise Structure". However I wasn't able to recreate the result. My LES result is similar to SST result. Moreover, when i try to create my own geometry to follow the setup, there is always a divergence error popping up. Have you encounter those problem before?

Got it! thank you for the suggestion. Can you send me a link to the documentation as well?

Just Hit F1 whenver you are in CFX Models tab then Navigate to the Theory Guide.
