So I am very new to Ansys and need a new laptop, in which I would like to use Ansys student without no problems and game. I was looking at a laptop with the following specs: i7-8750H, 16GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB and a 1 TB HDD & 256 GB SSD and I am unsure whether a gaming graphics card can deliver the required performance. As certain requirement list for Ansys state that a workstation graphics card is recommend like a NVIDIA Quadro.

Thanks

Hi MMaryal,

Unfortunately, gaming and using CAD/CAE software (like ANSYS) requires two totally different things. GeForce is most suitable for gaming; while Quadro is great for CAD/CAE software.

You can find more technical details from this link

That being said. It's not like you are using a good GeForce graphics card and you won't be able to run ANSYS. It's just that we can't guarantee that you would get a good performance.

Thank you,

Win
